The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
SECOND YEAR WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS
The Past and The Present
.
PRESENT REMEDIES
Devised and Directed by John Durnin
Designed by Sarah Williamson
Saturday 3 July - Saturday 10 July at 7.15pm
Matinee: Saturday 10 July at 2.30pm
.
Daniel Defoe's famous and original piece of dramatic journalism, A Journal of the Plague Years, is the starting point for John Durnin's show which will explore with the cast the meaning of "plague" both in a contemporary and an historical setting. "An accident, a design, a dream or a delirium?" It is impossible to describe what a group of actors under the guidance of a challenging director may come up with, but you can be sure that it will excite, stimulate and encompass theatre on the edge of danger.

A wonderful opportunity to witness exploration and the development of young actors as their imaginations take wing.

TYGER TWO
by Adrian Mitchell
Directed by Richard Williams
Designed by Janey Gardner
Friday 2 July - Friday 9 July at 7.30pm
Matinee: Thursday 8 July at 2.30pm
.
A celebration of the life of William Blake, with songs. This lively, irreverent and original play by one of our foremost contemporary poets is a recreation of his renowned play, Tyger, first presented by the National Theatre in 1971.

Mitchell writes: "Many things have changed since 1971, in the real world and in show business...there were several scenes I wanted to re-think completely. While William Blake seemed less out of date than he was before - he is still a thousand years ahead of his time - the enemies of art and of humanity have altered their tactics."

Up to date satire - don't miss it!
