When the District Council of Wyverdale fails to satisfy a government audit, New Labour high-flyer Alex is sent north from London to formulate a robust recovery plan. But websites, faith festivals and council leaflets in Bengali seem beside the point to the Labour old guard, struggling to provide the basics to an alienated and divided electorate. What begins as a metro-versus-retro comedy of misunderstanding soon becomes a chilling drama about multicultural Britain. Racial tensions soar and good intentions have fatal consequences. David Edgar's plays include Albert Speer at the National, and Destiny and Pentecost for the RSC. RADA graduate Rebekah Staton appears in the cast, and RADA Vice-Chairman Michael Attenborough directs. Friends of RADA
can see the performance for just £13.00, and this price includes
a glass of wine in the interval (please specify your preference for
red or white wine when booking your tickets). To avoid disappointment
please book early |

The Old Vic,
|
Richard II, believing he's king by divine right, is confronted by rebellion. He becomes isolated, with a shrinking band of supporters, and detached from the country and its people. Shakespeare's play questions the meaning of 'monarchy' if a divinely appointed sovereign can be pushed aside, and a man with no such claim replaces him in power. Kevin Spacey makes his Shakespearean debut in the UK as the doomed king coming to terms with a life stripped of authority. This is also the first time that Trevor Nunn has directed this celebrated play, and follows his Olivier Award-winning re-investigation of Hamlet at The Old Vic last year. RADA graduates David Dawson, Julian Glover and David Weston appear in this production. Friends of RADA
can see the performance for the special price of £25.00 (usual
price £40.00), and this price includes a glass of wine in the
interval (please specify your preference for red or white wine when
booking your tickets). To avoid disappointment please book early through
the RADA Box Office on 020 7908 4800. |
